Every year in June/July we plant native trees to replace pine trees that have been harvested. We'd love to get keen members of the community involved in our planting programme so if you'd like to help, get in contact for more information.
This year, we're fortunate and very grateful to be receiving 1,000 trees from Trees That Count (www.treesthatcount.co.nz). We will be getting Tawhai raunui (Nothofagus fusca / Red Beech) and Putaputaweta (Carpodetus serratus / Marbleleaf) from the Rimutaka Prison nursery, which have been sourced from Kuku Valley behind the prison grounds.
We'll update this news item after the planting takes place, and let you know how it went!
